BTW, first Oppo project post evah!

And it's pathetically simple...yet pathetically impossible. All I need to do is unscrew four stupid Phillips heads so I can clean out the carb bowl and be on my merry way.

Unfortunately not only are they pretty much welded in there (not literally, but liberal use of WD40 is not helping) but the space is so impossibly tight it cannot accommodate even my smallest Phillips head. I'm betting buying a specialized tool (a really small screwdriver? Some sort of Allan wrench with a Phillips head?) still has to be cheaper than taking it to the shop.

Use PB Blaster or Kroil, WD40 is not a penetrating fluid, it is just a water dispersant and lubricant. It is more work but taking the whole carb off may be easier, or using the philips bit attached to a ratchet. Just make sure you use the proper size bit for the screw head to avoid stripping it out.
